What Are The Benefits of Joining Your Local u3a Group?

The u3a movement is a collection of groups (u3as) that run local and online member-led learning for those no longer in full time work across the UK. There are lots of opportunities to get involved with learning, socialising and having fun. The u3a movement is underpinned by its three founding principles. A short video and more details about the Third Age Trust (the u3a national representative body) can be seen here: u3a Join Us page.

Please also read the u3a Members Code of Conduct.

Here are some of the reasons to join us:

  • Get out to meet face to face – learning together and making the most of life,
  • Make a difference, stay active, keep learning and have fun
  • Meet other people with similar interests: learn new things and share your skills
  • Members can attend talks, groups and other events
  • Meetings and events are normally held during the daytime and on weekdays

So, if you are semi-retired or recently retired, perhaps have moved into the area recently, or maybe just want to try something new - why not come along and meet others from your village or neighbourhood at one of our Guest Speaker meetings, coffee mornings or at one of the specialist group gatherings? It could broaden your horizons! You are welcome to attend one of our Somer Centre meetings as a non-member just to see if you like it. "Learn, Laugh, Live" with the u3a.

Read some of recent guest speaker meeting reports here.

Have a look at all the things to do that are available for you to do in the Radstock and Midsomer Norton areas when you become a u3a member, just visit the Events and Groups pages.
