It is over a year since this group was formed and we continue to enjoy our outings together and, most of all, each other’s company.
Later in the month (May 2026), a lively Skittles Match was held at The Kings Head in Coleford, where nine enthusiastic, and decidedly competitive, ‘skittlers’ took part. After several closely fought rounds, two winners emerged: Mary and Neil, both proving impressively steady under pressure.
Everyone enjoyed a buffet lunch, which turned out to be excellent value at just £2 per person, and the hosts at the Kings Head made the group feel very welcome throughout the afternoon.
The event was such a success that there are now plans to hold four or five skittles sessions each year, giving plenty of opportunities for rematches, and perhaps a new champion or two!"
During November we visited Clarks Shoe Museum at Clarks Village, Street and a Sunday Roast at the Ring O'Bells, Priston.
It has been a very successful year for the group with some memorable outings including Kilver Court (Shepton Mallet), Westonbirt Arboretum on two sunny days in May.
In July we enjoyed a Bristol harbour boat trip, a visit to Shearwater Lake in August and Stourhead (see photo below) on another sunny day in October. We had our Christmas meal at the King William, Tunley on the 17th December.

Our most recent event was to Westonbirt Arboretum (see pic) for which we were kindly given a grant by our u3a towards the cost. It turned one of the sunniest days of the month and was thoroughly enjoyed by us all.
Other half-day outings have been to Kilver Court, Shepton Mallet, Bath Abbey and The Roman Baths. Sunday lunches are also arranged once a month.
Our monthly meetings are held in Zen café MSN on the last Wednesday starting at 1.45 in the winter and 2.00 in the spring/summer months.. New members would be made very welcome, and we can offer lifts if necessary.
