Sheppy's Cider Farm - September 17th 2026
15 of us travelled by coach from Midsomer Norton to Sheppy’s Cider Farm, near Taunton, on September 17th. We had a really good day, organised most efficiently by Margaret who is also our Speaker Secretary. We were told all about Sheppy’s history as well as their cider production from our very knowledgeable guide, Mike, tasting a variety of ciders, as well as visiting the museum & the shop. Some of us ate a delicious lunch in the restaurant, others used the Cafe and afterwards a few explored parts of the extensive orchards. We learned a lot about the firm and the production of cider as well as having a very enjoyable time.
Bowood House and Gardens - April 29th 2026
On 29th April, thirty four of our members enjoyed a coach trip to Bowood House and Gardens. We were fortunate that although breezy, at times, the weather was dry and sunny.
This encouraged many of us to explore the parkland, lakeside path, cascade waterfall and Doric Temple.
The newly restored walled gardens provided a tranquil spot to sit and enjoy the climbing roses.
The terrace gardens, with ornate fountains, had colourful beds with tulips still in flower, but also afforded peaceful views of the landscaped park.’
